The voting for a proposed constitution started on Wednesday, which is likely to make Kenya much more democratic than before. Tight security is established on all the polling booths in order to avoid previous post election massacare which occured in 1997.

People gathered to vote at several polling boths and formed long Queues at Nairobi and other parts of the countIt is estimated that  12.4 million voters are likely  to cast their votes for this elections which had a tense campaigning and in which six people died during a rally. Around 18,000 police officers have been deployed at differnent polling stations in order to maintain peace and hormony.

The election authorities have told the media that the process will be more transparent than the previous election in which the votes went in favour of the president Mwai Kibaki and lead to violence and death of atleast 1,300 people.

Politicians have already predicted that the whole voting and polling thing will go peacefully, but several people have fled to the Rift Valley in the country fearing a new  danger. In the rift valley, tribal men use bow and arrows to fight each other and their enemies.

A wide support of the present draft constitutions gives very less power to the president similar to the American type presedential system.
