World watches helplessly as the death toll of China’s deadly landslides, that took place in Gansun province of northwest China, rises to 1,200 people.
More than 630 people have been reported still missing and the troops are still digging hoping to rescue them. The digging process is still on in the Zhouqo which is the main town of the province.
Peace Times reporter said that there are very few chances of the survival of the missing people as this part of the earth is densely covered and that there are no chances of any air pockets to survive.
He also added that it is not surprising that death toll is going to go beyond 2000 as many people have been feared buried in this landslide.
An incident reported by Xinhua news agency, which is china’s state run news media, says that a 50 year old man was rescued from the second floor of a hotel.
On Saturday, at least 3 villages were buried under the avalanche of heavy mud and rocks. This was triggered by the heavy rains. The land slide leveled an area up to five miles.
