In a massive train collision, more than 60 people have been killed while more than 100 others are left injured in the Eastern part of India. The mishap happened on Monday, about 200 kilometers from the state capital of West Bengal, Kolkata.

The crash took place at around 20:30 GMT when an express train rammed into a train that was stationed at Sainthia. Immediate help was pressed into service by the government to rescue those who were left alive.

The rescue teams found it difficult to cut through the hard metal wreckage, thus delaying the rescue process. Several deaths happened due to the delay in rescue operations and because immediate help did not reach the victims, who were below tons of metal.

Indian Railways is considered to be one of the best in the world, catering and accommodating major chunk of population. It is also the most popular mode of transport in India.
