In a grave mistake, NATO killed five Afghan soldiers in an uncoordinated air strike while the Afghan army was fighting insurgents in the country’s east.
The Afghan soldiers were in an ambush in Ghazni province, when the NATO air force began firing on them without warning. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, the Afghan Defence Ministry spokesman condemned the latest of the many ‘friendly fire’ deaths, that are on the rise due to miscoordination with of the NATO with the local Afghan forces. The general also said that such incidents are frequent, were the afghan military is killed by the NATO forces.
Josef Blotz the NATO spokesperson has confirmed the NATO airstrike of Wednesday that killed its allies in the Afghan war. Two more soldiers were injured apart from the five dead.
