Turkey expresses anger by closing the Turkish airspace for some Israeli military flights. The Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made the statement from Toronto while he was attending the G8 Summit. The issue has been fueled by the Israeli raid on an aid ship in Gaza Strip that killed nine activists who were of Turkish origin.

The incident occurred on the 31st of May,  thus instigating new rules where the Military planes would be required to seek over flight permission before entering the Turkish airspace. Immediately after the ban was imposed, one military plane that tried to fly overboard was denied permission by the Turkish Officials.

According to the Turkish Government, it is not a blanket ban and each case would be assessed individually. However, all commercial flight would operate normally and will remain unaffected by the ban.

The Israel Newspapers purported stories in order to defend their stance in the accusations. According to Yediot Ahronot, the raid was an action of self defense  after the troops were attacked by the activists.

Since the three week war on the Gaza Strip, Turkey has been restraining all ties with Israel. It has withdrawn the ambassador from Israel and canceled coalition in military operations since the attacks. Israel has accepted two investigators from the international council  for making inquiries into the recent raids on Freedom Flotilla .
