Over 10 million people from four countries in west Africa are adversely affected by a severe drought according to aid agencies. Nigeria which is the worst affected country has some 7.1 million people who are suffering from hunger, with nearly half considered highly food insecure because of the loss of livestock and crops coupled with a surge in prices.
Describing the situation as critical the UN World Food Programme said that the eastern parts of Mali and northern Cameroon have also been badly affected by the failed rains. In Chad, two million were in need of food aid.
The hunger season is expected to last at least until the next harvest in September, until when the people in these regions are in serious need for aids.
The Sahel, is one of the poorest regions in the world. It is a largely arid belt of land that stretches across Senegal to Sudan and separates the Sahara desert in the north from the savannah regions further south.

Our heart goes out to these kids, The hunger is evident by thier malnurished bodies with the rib cage pointing out as a grim reminder to all. For sure we will be qustioned by Allmighty God as to what we did for these kids to alleviate thier pain. How much food and Allahs resources dow e waste everyday. If we could stop this gross wastage and pool to towards these kids or these countries.
So Freinds please Consider a Hungry Mouth before you put a morsel in your mouth next time. As a Muslim is not one who gorges himself while his neighbour goes hungry. Allah forgive us for not taking care of the needy ones and help us to help the needy.
