Devender Gupta, one of the accused for the Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad has been granted police custody by a Hyderabad city court on Monday. Devender is one of the many hindu radicals belonging to Abhinav Bharat, a Hindu fundamentalist organisation, which has been implicated for carrying out terrorist activities in India, noteworthy being the Malegaon Blast and the Ajmer Blast. he was sent to CBI custody till June 30. The orders of the magistrate followed apetition filed by the CBI in the court, seeking custody of Gupta to uncover more information about the blast.
Another petition was also filed for conducting a test identification parade of Lokesh Sarma, the other person arrested in the blast case. They will be in judicial remand for two weeks following which they will be shifted to Chanchalguda jail. The two were arrested earlier for involvement in the bomb blast at Ajmer and were lodged in Ajmer Central Prison.
It may be recalled that Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and her associates from RSS and Abhinav bharat has already been implicated in similar brutal blast all over India which have killed scores of people.
Two other accomplices in this grave crime were Sandeep Dange and Ramji Kalsangra.
However, the CBI has not been able to track down these two, who went underground as soon as their names cropped up in various terrorist attacks in the country.
Late on Tuesday the CBI announced a cash reward of Rs. 10,00,000/- for providing information about the two absconding accused relating to 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blast. The identity of the informant will also be kept a secret.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has also added the name of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist Sunil Joshi to the list of accused in the Mecca Masjid blast case. The CBI petition refers all the five as Members of RSS, who had entered the Mecca Masjid posing as tourists and planted the bomb.
