Maldives Government Dwindles as Cabinet Members resign en Masse

The Archipelago in the Indian Ocean has become difficult to govern after the resignation of all the members in the Maldives Cabinet. This occurred when the opposition party threatened to pass a vote of no confidence against every minster.

Husnu Suood who is the attorney general in Maldives, after the resignation of the members of the cabinet, each passing week  the mps from the opposition party try to squeeze more control from the executive.

Mohammed Nausheed, the president has announced that the thirteen member cabinet will no longer be working with the opposition party. The opposition or Majlis part members are not confirming to the spirit of parliamentary constitution in the nation.

However the opposition party did not respond to the accusations and remained tight lipped on the opposition party was against ambitious privatization plans that were proposed by Nausheed.

This has also lead to a decline in Nasheed’s popularity at the Home front as he faces parliamentary resistance and is not able to bring about the promised political and economic reforms in the country.

But Nausheed’s profile has had a boost in the international arena as he is well know for some of his latest stunts on drawing public attention of green revolution and global warming.
