Kyrgyzstan takes a giant leap forward towards parliamentary democracy as the voters await results form a referendum held on Sunday.
According to Galina Sjripkina the spokesperson for the Central Elections Committee almost ninety percent of the ballot votes have been in favor of parliamentary democracy while the rest of the five percent are yet to be analyzed.
Furthermore, about 8% have voted against the new constitution. Statistics reveal that in the year 2010 2.7 million people in Kyrgyzstan were eligible to vote but the turnout was a whopping seventy percent that was never reported before. The final outcome would be officially announced on Monday, but the voters are already celebrating the victory that is very evident.
In fact Roza Otunbayeva who is the interim president states that she should be appointed as the caretaker president and form her government. It was a historic day fro the people of Kyrgyzstan as Otunbayeva declared the referendum a success. The new constitution would not only bring security an stability for the people of Kyrgyzstan but it will also first Parliamentary republic nation in Central Asia.
According to they Office of Democratic Institution and Human Rights the high voter turnout displays the strong will power of the Kyrgyz Citizens as they mould their future.
