Paraguay beat Japan with penalty kicks and made it to the quarterfinals. The win has been exhilarating for the Paraguans as their country has made it for the first time to the world cup quarterfinals.
Although the game of uneventful as no goals were scored from either side ,but there was an explosion of thrill and excitement in the spectators as Paraguay scored in all the five penalty kicks while Japan missed out on two shootouts.
Oscar Cardoza is a name that would be remembered in the world Cup as he brought life to the game after it was declared a 0-0 draw. His left footed aim for the net was perfect and it left the goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima dumbfounded and propelled Paraguay to the world cup quarterfinals.
Coach Gerardo Martino was very emotional after the win as it was the most difficult win the world Cup. He said that the match was tough as both teams made a great effort but it was God’s will to have Paraguay in the quarterfinals.
Even though Japanese players put up a great front, the Para guans controlled the ball. Paraguay has been full of surprises this season and Edgar Barreto, Lucas Barrios,Chistian Riveros, Nelson Valdez and Cardozo are some of the players to watch out for.
