Police have arrested Chand Kumar Prasad, an employee of the Indian Navy on charges of spying for Pakistan. The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Chand Kumar Prasad at the New Delhi Railway Station on Thursday evening
Chand Kumar Prasad, 24 yrs old, is working in the Navy’s Aircraft Maintenance Unit in Mumbai and was allegedly passing on classified information to a Pakistan High Commission official through another person, police said.
Police sources told that they have recovered from him some “secret and sensitive” documents including photograph of the Hindan Air Base and map of Meerut Cantonment.
Chand Kumar was produced before a magistrate today and was remanded to five-day police custody.
Chand Kumar is a resident of Chhapra district in Bihar and was posted at Naval air base INS Shikra in Mumbai with rank Naval Air Mechanic-I. Navy sources said. “He has put in a service of around four years in the Navy,” they added.
INS Shikra is Navy’s only helicopter base, from where it operates its Sea King, Kamov 28, Kamov 31 and Chetak helicopters. This base was used by Navy during the 26/11 attacks by the NSG commandos to launch operations in Nariman House.
This is the second case of espionage in the top echeleons of indian armed and foreign servies within a month. Remember Madhuri gupta who was caught spying for pakistan.
Thank God that the accused is not a Muslim, Had it been, he would be linked immediately to some hastily created psuedo jihadi group. Labelled as a terrorist, made headlines on media. Channels would have increased their TRP by giving 24 hour coverage. His house, village would have been rediscovered and put on map. Muslims serving in armed forces would be immediately put under the scanner of suspicion, Even the office boy and chaprasi would not have been spared. Worse they may have lost thier jobs et all. Media should grow up to be mature and unbiased and should publish the truth. But Truth shall prevail. Malegoan blasts, Samjhautha train blasts, Kingfisher bomb planting,KSCA stadium blasts, Ajmer blasts, Hyderabad Mosque blasts,Goa blasts etc should be an eye opener for people that terrorists can be hindus, christians,sikhs etc also. Muslims have been made scapegoats for no fault of thiers.
