Four Palestinians have been killed and ten others were injured in the tunnel connecting Gaza and Egypt.This incident took place when the Egyptian authorities carried out the operation of destroying the smuggling tunnel.

The Egyptian authorities were blamed by Hamas group, for the death of Palestinians.However, the reports say that the Palestinians were given a notice prior to the destruction of tunnel. They were warned by Egyptian officials.

Majority of the population residing near the tunnel used to get their earnings from supplies. The area was later taken under siege by Israel,after Hamas came into power.

Hamas spokesman,Fawzi Barhoum,said,”This is a terrible crime committed by Egyptian security against simple Palestinian workers who were trying to earn their daily bread”.

“Citizens cause of death was the Egyptian security forces spraying poison gasses into one of the tunnels,” the interior ministry confirmed.

There had been attempts earlier by Israel and US in forcing Egypt to shut their tunnels, which they believed were used by Palestinian fighters. During Israel’s three week assault on Gaza,earlier last year, there were numerous bombings carried out by Israeli aircrafts in order to destroy the tunnels.
