Death of Al-Azhar head

One of the Senior-most figures of Egypt, Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi had died during his visit to Saudi Arabia.

Numerous books had been written by Tantawi, a 82 year old Egyptian. His books also included a fifteen-volume Quran interpretation.

Sheikh Mohammed  Tantawi met with a heart attack in the early hours on Wednesday, when boarding a flight.
He was identified as dead later, after he was hospitalized in Amir Sultan Hospital, a local hospital in Riyadh.

Tantawi, who had been the chief of the Al-Azhar University at Egypt, was popular for his contentious ban of niqab.His work also included seven thousand pages of Quranic encyclopedia.

His dead body would probably be sent to his country, Cairo, said Egyptian television.
