DHARAMSALA, India: Even though heavy pressure is being put on Dalai Lama to refrain from meeting the US president Obama, his envoys in Beijing have refused to give in to the pressure and are keen on the upcoming meeting.

The differences between the Tibetan government (which is in exile) and Chinese government have not narrowed down on Beijing’s rule of Tibet as one of the autonomous region, said one of the Dalai Lama’s two envoy, Kelsang Gyaltsen, to the Peace Times. Beijing also raised the issue of Dalai Lama’s visit to US in this month.

Beijing had earlier announced the stand of all the countries having diplomatic ties with it, not to meet with Dalai Lama as this would hurt the relationship of china with that country. US was also warned by china earlier this month that their diplomatic relations might go sour if the meeting of Obama and Dalai Lama takes place. This already adds up fire to the much on going issue of US selling arms to taiwan and Google’s withdrawal decision from China.
