Pune: On Saturday night, a day before valentine’s day a bomb blast took place in the German bakery in Pune, killing nine people and leaving several others seriously injured. The blast took pace in Goregaon area and the victims have been moved to various hospitals where they are undergoing treatment.

This blast may have effects on India and Pakistan Peace Talks between the Foreign Secretaries of each country, which was scheduled on February 25.

India will not be cowed down by terrorism,” said External Affairs minister S M Krishna. He said ” Our home minister is in Pune and so are investigating agencies. We will look at the investigation reports and then decide on talks”.

Mr. Chidambaram, who is the Union Home Minister who is in Pune on Sunday didn’t answer any questions whether the blast will effect the Indo-Pakistan peace talks. “This matter (of Indo-Pak talk) will be considered in New Delhi,” He said.

He addressed the media after, visiting the Koregaon blast site area and victims in different hospitals. He said”I will not go beyond this (the blast) incident in my responses,” I have not
come here to answer questions on the diplomatic or external affairs side. Those are matters we will consider in Delhi…That we will discuss when I get back to Delhi,” he said.

Opposition parties like BJP demanded that India should put an end to peace talks after the blast. “Terror and talks cannot co-exist. When terror threatens India, then not talking is also a legitimate diplomatic option,” BJP spokesperson Arun Jaitley told media in Delhi.

“So (long) as Pakistan continues building an infrastructure for terror against India, and till such time that there is no cooperation in the context of 26/11, we cannot talk to Pakistan,”
he said.

A high alert was put in three more states like Delhi, Kanpur and Indore.
