European Union wants Jerusalem to be common capital to both Israel and Palestine.

European union stated that Jerusalem can be a common capital to both Israel and Palestinian state in future. Foreign ministers who attended a meeting in Brussels on Tuesday expressed that they would not identify any borders that were annexed by Israel after 1967. Israel had taken over east Jerusalem from Jordan in 1967 war. The move of Israel at that time was criticized Internationally.

Palestinians prefer east Jerusalem to be its capital in future. But the statement in the meeting on Tuesday did not suggest east Jerusalem to be Palestenian state capital. However Palestinian executives gratified EU ministers statement. There was some uproar in Israel after a newspaper reported that such a line was drafted in the statement.

European foreign ministers ignored refusal of Palestinians to return to peace talk said Israel’s Foreign Ministry.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas commented that “Until Settlement activity in occupied territories is not halted by Israel, the peace talks cannot resume.”

The Eu ministers are trying hard to bring negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians in an effort bring a two-state solution.
