Gorbachev admires Obama for his efforts and still believes in New World Order for all nations
Mikhail Gorbachev defended against the critics who accuse him of loosing the soviet empire saying that he was proud of his role 20 years ago in the fall of the Berlin wall. He said that there was no choice left other than ending the long division of Germany into NATO-aligned West and communist east.
He said “I am proud that we — and by that I mean both Western and Eastern European countries — found an approach that took everyone’s interests into account, so this most painful thing was liquidated, the issue is not shame, but the fact there was a split in a country in the center of Europe, the center of the world, with a huge population”.
Mr.Gorbachev is widely admired in western countries while he is criticized in Russia for approving the New World Order. Due to the New World Order russia’s huge empire was brought down and it led to economic chaos.
He supported his view saying “There should be no walls. Now, by the way, dividing lines are beginning to appear again. We need to live in peace in this house called Europe, with all its doors and windows”.
Gorbachev still believes in the New World Order as he said to the reporters that “Only in cooperation with Russia and the United States can Europe play its role in the global process of creating a New World Order”, adding this had been a dream of the late pope John Paul II with whom he says he was “good acquaintance”.
He was admired by the western countries for not trying to stop the resistance of the communists in Europe which ultimately led to the fall of Berlin wall in 1989.
He said that “If the Soviet Union had wanted, it could have stopped reunification. And what would have happened then? I don’t know. Maybe World War III”. He continued saying that he never regretted the fall of Berlin wall and never even panicked pointing out that he was sleeping when its was breached.
Gorbachev admired and advised US saying “The Americans should understand that their monopoly has ended, but that America is going to be a leader for a long time, that it is going to be very influential. This is a fact, whether you like it or not”.
Gorbachev also praised the US president Barack Obama whose vision he says is to repair the Russian relations that were damaged before. He said “I do not envy Obama, because I think changing and ‘restructuring’ America is not easier than changing the Soviet Union, I wish the Americans luck. I think the president’s steps need the support of the American people”.
Gorbachev is also a Nobel Peace Prize winner like Barack Obama in 1990 and he also approved the Peace Prize given to Barack Obama and said this would give America a push towards greater multilateralism.
He concluded saying that the “dividing lines” are again appearing and he called US, Europe and Russia towards cooperating in the “fairer” World Order and to create the New World Order.
