Death rates increasing day by day in suicide bomb attacks

A deadly blast was triggered in city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan which killed more than 34 and injured more than 45 people. The blast was targeted at the people who were standing in queue to receive their salaries. A suicide bomber came in and blew himself killing at least 34 people with him and injuring many.

This was the second attack that hit the city in less than a week. A senior police official Aslam Tarin, said “The suicide bomber came on a motorcycle and blew up close to people gathered to get salaries. We found parts of a suicide vest and some body parts of the suicide attacker”.

The attack that took place near Pearl continental hotel and near Pakistan’s army headquarters is the place where 10 fighters fought for at least 24 hours last month which killed 23 people in the heavy fighting.

Imran Khan of Al Jazeera said that “Hundreds of people were at the bank at the time, which explains why the death toll has risen so sharply in the last couple of hours.

“When this blast took place, the noise was so loud, one witness said she felt as if her whole world had ended. Another said she saw a woman lying on the street missing half her body – very harrowing stories at the scene of this bomb blast.

“This is a highly secure area. Just a couple of weeks ago there was a siege that took place on the army headquarters. The question already being asked is how another bomb blast could take place in such a sensitive area.

“There are no claims of responsibility so far.”

Another bomb attack was seen near the police checkpoint on the outskirts in which 7 police officers were affected. The death toll due to violence is increasing day by day as the Pakistani army launches a offense against Taliban. At least 300 people have been killed last month alone.

The worsening security situation coincides with a UN decision to pull out international staff from Pakistan’s northwest.

Pakistan’s military has been fighting with the armed gunmen in streets of Kanigurram, a town in Waziristan for two days.
