Authorities have reported that Federal agents killed a leader of a Sunni Muslim group in US during a raid in the city of Detroit.

US attorney’s office reported that 53 years old, Luqman Ameen Abdullah was killed in a shootout on wednesday at a warehouse in Dearborn. He along with his group of 10 members were allegedly charged of conspiring and selling stolen goods and were in possession of illegal goods and firearms.

The FBI pursued the man and killed him in the warehouse. A court document showed that Abdullah also known as Christopher Thomas was an imam(leader) of the group whose intention was to establish Shariah(Islamic law) in US.

The FBI statement was reported that “At one location, four suspects surrendered and were arrested without incident. Luqman Ameen Abdullah did not surrender and fired his weapon. An exchange of gun fire followed and Abdullah was killed”.

FBI reported that Abdullah was a regular preacher of Islam and many of his supporters had converted to Islam in tha jail. FBi also said that Abdullah was very rhetoric about the government.

Executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Affairs, Dawud Walid said that members of the Muslim community were “shocked” at Abdullah’s death. Dawud told Al-Jazeera that “He was well-known and respected. No-one that I have talked has said that he was linked to any sort of extremist groups, overseas or here at home,”

“I do not have any knowledge as to the veracity of the allegations [against Abduallah and his 10 followers] but if the allegations are true, what does that have to do with Islam or Muslims?

“The charges that have been filed against the 11 suspects have no relation or linkage to their religion – they are gun charges. We resent the fact that the FBI has linked religion to these gun charges”.

People of the Muslim community mourned his death across the nation and said that the FBI was behind the murdering and falsely accusing the leader because of his great work.
