Rosana Al-Yami a female journalist was pardoned by the King of Saudi Arabia. She was convicted for her role in a controversial television program which shows a Saudi man detailing his sexual exploits and for that 60 lashes were decided. Though she had a role in broadcasting the show, she was exonerated.

Information ministry spokesperson, Abdul-Rahman al-Hazzaa said “In this case, the flogging has been dropped”. The government announced the unconditional pardon of Al-Yami who was charged of producing the popular show “Ahmar Bilkhat al-Areed” and helping that controversial episode.

Abdul-Rahman said that this case of Al-Yami and other journalists would be transferred to ministry of committee for disciplinary actions. Reuters agency reported Al-Yami saying that “The king has vindicated me. I am satisfied with the king’s order and I accept the decisions of the sovereign”.

She was also a co-coordinator in the program “Ahmar Bilkhat al-Areed” which means Bold Red Lines, but denied involvement in that particular Episode of July. The show was aired by Saudi-owned Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC), which broad casted the controversial episode in which a Saudi man, Mazen Abdul-Jawad openly spoke about his Sexual experiences, he also gave tips on how couples could spice up their sexual lives.

He said all the following things in front of the camera from his bedroom. He also spoke about how he used to pick up girls with whom he had sex in the city of jeddah. Abdul-Jawad earlier this month was sentenced to 1,000 lashes and if survived five years of imprisonment. His lawyer Sulaiman al-Jumeii, says that Abdul jawad was deceived by the LBC and was unaware that he was being recorded.

Sulaiman al-Jumeii on Monday begged the information minister to intercede with the king and also include all those who were involved in the case under the same ministry committee.

He said “They are being tried by a court that is not specialized in this issue and has not even summoned LBC or watched the raw film, Justice should not be divided as long as it is one case”.

Other three men who were seen in the show discussed sex publicly were sentenced to two years of imprisonment with 300 lashes. The two offices of LBC have been shut down since Saudi Arabia unlike other countries prohibits sexual content on television, magazines, newspapers and books.
