thirdfrontCPM intensified its efforts to bring the Biju Janatha Dal to the third front on the wake of the party’s decision to end the 11 Year old partnership with B J P. Seetharaam Yechuri, C P M polit beauro member has arrived in Bhuvaneshwar to carry out discussions with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard. In between, the Governor M C Bhadare has asked Naveen Patnaik to prove his majority in the house on 11th Mar.

Earlier Naveen Patnaik had visted Governor claiming the support of 76 Members out of 147 members in Orissa Assembly. Apart from BJD’s 61 members, Naveen had claimed that he has the support of two Members of NCP, One each from CPM and CPI, Four from JLL and Seven independents.

But the Speaker Kishore Mohanthi and Ex-Minister Debashish Naik were not accompanied Naveen in Rajbhavan, instead CPI and CPM MLAs were there with him. Analysts point this as the hint of a new alliance. Many leaders of BJD has already clarified that there is nothing wrong in BJD making up ties with Left.

CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat told that BJD’s decision is a blow to L K Advani’s comment that there is no significance for a third front in the country and in future the competition will be between two fronts. It’s BJP’s and Congress’s desire that only two parties contest, but this is never going to be a reality. Power in the Center will be to an alternate Government which will put forward alternate ways for Social, Economic and Foreign policies of the country. He added.

C P M had started the discussions with Naveen patnaik, earlier when the B J P and Sang Parivar attacked the Christians. It’s a party that always stood for Secular values right from when it was leaded by Biju Patnaik, father of Naveen Patnaik. They were part of V P Singh Government and and National front. There decision to end up the ties with B J P is timely. Kart Said.

It’s the bad image that he had earned in National and international levels due to the attack against Christians in Orissa, that made Naveen Patnaik to end the ties with BJP
