History was created in the field of American Politics when Barrack Obama, the Democrat, was elected the next President of United States. Obama would be the first Black President of the country.

He defeated John Mccain, the republican, with a huge margin, thus proving his ability as a contesting candidate. Obama secured 338 electoral college votes against 155 of Mccain, as per the CNN reports. This 47 year old illinois senator is the first Afro-American president of America. He was born to a kenyan father and white american mother.

The much aged 72 year old Mccain accepted defeat and urged all citizens of America to congratulate Obama on his victory. In phoenix, his concession statement said that obama had his good will and surely has better plan to secure the country in this dangerous world.

Barrack Obama would be sworn in as 44th US president on January 20, 2009, replacing republican George Bush. George Bush ruled for nearly 8 years marking a new milestone in american history.
