THE UNITED NATIONS General Assembly voted in favour of lifting US sanctions on Cuba for the 17th consecutive year.
Almost all the counties of the world except United States, Israel and Palau put all their efforts to denounce Washington which has been defying the world opinion with its 46-year old economic embargo against Cuba.
In all 185 countries which include the European Union states and India have called for an end to the sanctions of Cuba which has led to the deaths of millions by denying food and and essential medicines to the poor Cubans.
Felipe Perez Roque , the Cuban Foreign Minister called the embargo as “illegal and unjust” and said the new US president would have to decide whether to continue the failed policies of President George Bush
But the American authorities are trying to justify these inhuman sanctions as a necessity.
