In an unusual turn, Jet Airways, the private carrier, announced that it would had laid down nearly 1000 employees as a process of cutting down the extra flab.

This news came as a shock to the Jet Airways employees, mostly cabin crew members and Engineers who were angry at this decision. Most of them were new and freshers into the company.

Jet Airways is planning to lay down more employees who are on probation or unconfirmed in the following weeks. Although companies laying of the staff is common throughout the world, however its rarely seen in Airways.

Kingfisher chairman, Vijaya Mallya also announced that they too are planning to make the company lean, efficient and healthy. They said that the first step towards this would be to return 14 aircrafts which are extra as per their present needs.
