Assam was rocked with 12 blasts just before noon on Thursday in a market places of Guwahati like Pan Bazaar Fancy Bazaar, District Court Complex and Ganeshguri; which are generally crowded all the time.

61 people have been reported killed while more than 200 injured in the blast that ripped of at 11: 30 am. The injured include even womena and small children. Just after the first bomb ripped, there were 6 more simultaneous blasts in surrounding area.

To bring down fire, Police and fire brigade were pressed into service immediately. G P Singh, The Guwahati Superintendent of Police, said that all measures are being taken to bring situation under control.

The second blasts ripped near DCs office in which many people and several cars were blown away, eye witnesses reported. Immediately after that two more bombs went off at Ganeshguri near the capital complex and fancy Bazar area.

Another three bombs went off in Barpeta District, while two explosions occurred in Bongaigaon. Kokrajhar districts witnessed twin blasts, the reports came in. These bombs in Kokrajhar are suspected to be planted on a two wheeler.

The immediate suspected outfits were Banned ULFA and HUJI extremists. Police assumed that these two outfits are behind the blasts. Although they have no supporting evidence for the same. This kind of proof less allegations has been around for sometime since India has been hit by Terrorist activities.

A similar stance is held by the Assam government. ULFA never had a history of serial blasts. If they really are involved in this blasts, then this would be their first attempt in serial blasts.

Another possible conspiracy theory coming into picture is that political figures might be involved in this act. Following the series of events that took place in Assam and Orissa, there are high possibilities of Politics being behind this act.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil condemned these blasts. As usual opposition leader, L K Advani said that UPA government is failing again and again to curb terrorism.
