Islamabad,the capital city of Pakistan was rocked by a powerful bomb blast which left 40 dead and more than 75 injured.

There foreigners too in the people who were killed and injured. The blast happened close to the president’s house just outside the Marriott hotel.

The blast was so powerful that it could be heard upto several miles. The sources reported that a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the gate of the Hotel.

This explosion was so powerful that it ripped through many cars that were parked outside the hotel in the parking area and also uprooted many trees. Part of building also caught fire which was later brought into control.

American Embassy officials were at the hotel and a grand function was in progress when this blast happened. The Balochistan house, which is just opposite to mariott hotel, also suffered damages. The flats in which many senior officials were staying also got destroyed.

A 25 feet deep crater was created due to the blast. Danish diplomat and 3 US citizens are among those injured. Atleast 15 people were trapped in the marriott hotel fire.

Initially then explosive loaded car blew up the area which was followed by another explosive loaded truck which was even more powerful. Some reports say that the Prime minister yousuf raza gilani was hosting iftar dinner at a nearby place.
