The karnataka and Orissa state governments have been issued strict warnings from the Center in regards to the recent rise in communal violence in both the states.

In the recent communal apprisal, Christian minorities have been targetted with the claim that force conversions were being carried out by some christian churches.

There has been open attacks on christian community in both the states which could have been easily controled by the governments in the respective places. But there was very weak response to such criminal acts and nearly no arrests were made in these events.

In rather an unusual tone, the Center warned the opposition ruled states that they should not commit the “grave mistake” that the center is “powerless to deal with such dirty activities”. The Center spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said that some opposition ruled states seemed to forget that Center holds the full power to control such activities and also bring to account all those who have instigated such acts.

When asked if the center would use article 355 and 356 to deal with such acts, Mr. Singhvi said that it is not the question whether we would use something or not, the whole issue is of knowing the center can crush such acts and constitution gives them entire power to do so.

Its been long, but finally and for the first time in long time, Center has taken and excised its strict Disciplinary stance. Hopefully it maintains such stance during all kinds of communal apprisals.
