Coming up with yet another stunt, Gujarat government comes out with a proposal to hire fresh cadres from training exclusively for special intelligence Unit to avoid any negligence. Earlier field officers were called upon whenever the necessity arose to be a part of intelligence unit. But later they were sent back to their police duties after a period of time.

In order to avoid this, Government has now decided to setup a permanent team of around 60 officers who would be fully dedicated to intelligence purposes. They will not be transferred to any police duties in any circumstances. Principal secretary Balwant Singh said ” We are recruiting around 60% of field members, especially at level of police sub-inspectors, for intelligence gathering through state recruitment board”.

Presently, the state intelligence is under the jurisdiction of CID which time to time get field officers to have a specific job done. This change comes about in a view to tighten and curb terrorism, after the recent Ahmadabad bombings in which 55 people were killed.

This is another stunt pulled in by the Modi lead Gujarat government. Imagine recovering 24 bombs, without any getting even closer to bursting, is quite unbelievable. Or is it something that we are made to believe about the strength of Gujarat government. Modi has performed many stunts in the past, could this be just another one?
