Terror strikes India again. This time its ahmedabad, just a day after the bangalore blasts. Ahmedabad rocked with 16 well coordinated serial bomb blasts that ripped through the city on Saturday, killing more than 30 people and injuing more than 100, sending a panic wave. The Toll rose to 45 on sunday and is expected to rise further, police informed.
Ammonium Nitrate was used in the blasts, suggested the initial investigators. However, they also later added that there were use of cylinders too. The first blast occured at 6: 45 pm in Maninagar. This was followed by 16 low intensity explosions in heavily crowded areas which include market places in the capital of Gujurath within a time span of 60 to 70 minutes.

Three blasts took place in Maninagar, Sarkhej, Isanpur, Hatkeshwar and Bapunagar. In the constituency of chief minister Narendra Modi, Maninagar, 3 blasts took place. The blast in Sarkhej took place in a CNG bus, while other blasts took place in Naroda Patiya, Thakkar Nagar, Odhav, Narol, Sarangpur and Jawahar Chowk.

A nation wide alert has been announced. Two blasts also occurred in the premises of Civil and LG
Hospitals where several victims were rushed. The bombs were planted on cycles, in tiffin boxes and placed in crowded market places. At Vadilal Sarabhai hospital 12 people died while getting treated, doctors said.

Rapid action forces (RAF) has been called in and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the sensitive areas of Ahmadabad. The blasts took place in the rich areas of Ahmadabad. Railway stations have been sealed and mobile phones blocked.

Although an email suggested that there is a Mujahideen group behind this attack, however this looks like hoax created by the opposition party. The Bangalore blasts and Ahmadabad blasts explain the well coordination of the criminals which is only possible with the help of either government, or the opposition.

Unfortunately, our own politicians commit such heinous crimes and blame a particular community for it. This brings shame to India!

Terrorist attacks in Ahmedabad” (July 29), which the blasts were carried out in states, ruled by the BJP and most likely, done by people with animosity to the BJP. Clearly, you failed to look at the other side of the coin. These attacks were carried out just days after the central government won the confidence motion in Parliament and the BJP failed in its attempt to bring down the government. With some of its MPs crossing the floor, the party looked farther away from gaining power in the center than ever before. However, these blasts have given a breath of fresh air to the ideologically crippled party and have put Congress on the defensive.
Whoever was behind the blasts are well-wishers of the BJP, not enemies. Another round of xenophobia and victimization of Muslims will start very soon and will be kept up till the elections. God alone knows how many more shady organizational names like Indian Mujahedeen will be bandied about in the media to keep alive this paranoia.
In all recent terrorist attacks in India — Jaipur, UP or elsewhere — Muslims were arrested, Muslim names played up in the media and then acquitted. No one took any notice of how the lives of these innocent people were destroyed, a black mark was put against their names and how many were killed in the so-called encounters charged as terrorists, to be told after years that they were innocent? The Indian government itself, in reply to a question from Brinda Karat in Rajya Sabha, conceded that the previous blasts could have been the handiwork of the Sangh Parivar. All of this makes some of us wonder if this was another fraud perpetrated to wrest the control of the central government and then slowly turn India into a Hindu state where there is no place for tolerance and minorities.
The government should conduct an inquiry and exemplary punishment should be meted out to the guilty.
