Uttar Pradesh Government said that more than 400 villages got struck by floods causing huge loss of lives and property here on Thursday. Most of the rivers have crossed the red mark like Sharda, Ghagra, Rapti and Budhi. To be more precise, Prati and Kuano have gone well over red mark, while sharda is above the danger mark in Lakhimpur’s Paliakalan and Shardanagar. In Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Tutipar, the river ghagra is flowing above the red mark. Rapti and Budhi are well over the red mark while kuano is flowing over red mark only in Balrampur.
Even after such a chaos, the irony is that the government hasn’t announced these areas as Flood hit. Many villages which include 334 in siddharthanagar, 47 in Gorakhpur districts and 7 in Ballia got affected terribly by the floods. These three districts are supposed to be the most sensitive areas as far as flood is concerned. It is reported that 8 people have already lost their lives in these floods. Chief secretary Atul kumar informed the reporters about the situation after a thorough aerial survey of these districts.
Prior arrangements have already been made by the government to ensure safety and rescue operations and more than three crores had been earmarked for these affected areas. Relief operations are under way. Mr. Atul said that specially trained companies of PAC had been deployed in areas bordering Nepal to avoid any sudden incidents due to floods. In these regions, the rain fall is more compared to last year.
